Q: What parts are needed to complete an overhaul for a 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe?
I have a 1987 Ford Thunderbird Coupe in the shop getting an "overhaul" and it has been there for over a year because the mechanic could not find a certain "pipe" that the engine needs. He says that that certain pipe is no longer made and no junkyards around where I live have it. I don't know anything about cars so please help me.

A: I'd guess it is a pipe having to do with the turbo. Search online - I'm sure there is a Turbo Coupe club of some sort out there. They should be able to help you find what you are after. After a year he should have already fixed it or given up and given the car back to you. Here's one: http://forums.tccoa.com/

Q: Where is the fuel pump reset button located on a 1994 Ford Thunderbird?
I have a '94 Ford Thunderbird and key remote seems to set off the alarm occasionally and the car won't start. It was suggested that I press the fuel reset button which should be located in the trunk on the left side. I notice an apparatus there but there does not appear to be a (red) button to depress. Is there a reset button on this type of car?

A: The fuel cut-off switch is an inertia switch. The only way it would need to be reset is if the car was hit hard enough to trip it. Your problem would more than likely be with your anti-theft system.

Q: What is going on with my 1989 Ford Thunderbird?
A few weeks ago I ran out of gas in my 1989 Ford Thunderbird. Ever since then it has been running kind of rough, but if I give it gas it sort of straightens up. Is this happening because I ran out of gas and if so how could I fix it? Or do you think it is some other problem? It never really did this until I ran out of gas, thanks for any help.

A: It sounds likely that you got down to some dirt in the gas tank when you ran low. But you don't have any carburetors. Your engine is fuel injected. Try some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank, for a few tankfuls. It's a lot cheaper than having it done at the shop, although it does take a little longer to work. Follow the directions on the bottle. Using more won't help it work faster.

Q: What is the difference between a 1955 and a 1957 Ford Thunderbird valve covers?
Could 1957 Ford Thundbird valve covers go on a 1955 Thunderbird?

A: Yes they will go on, Ford did not put a 352 in a 1957 T-bird. It is probably a 312, but the valve covers from 55 thru 57 were for the same engine family in those years in the T-bird. I do not know if the exact style is proper for car shows though.

Q: Physics : In the Daytona 500 auto race, a Ford Thunderbird and a Mercedes Benz are moving side by side down a?
In the Daytona 500 auto race, a Ford Thunderbird and a Mercedes Benz are moving side by side down a straight-away at 67.0 m/s. The driver of the Thunderbird realizes that she must make a pit stop, and she smoothly slows to a stop over a distance of 250 m. She spends 5.00 s in the pit and then accelerates out, reaching her previous speed of 67.0 m/s after a distance of 390 m. At this point how far has the Thunderbird fallen behind the Mercedes Benz, which has continued at a constant speed?

Q: Burnt out power seat in a 1988 Ford Thunderbird
I have a 1988 Ford Thunderbird and she is lovely. But the power seat on the diver's side doesn't work. I don't care if the power seat works, but I can't currently reach the pedals. Is there a way to simply move the seat so it fits me without having to fix the power seat? All the fuses are fine. I just need to move the seat.

A: I agree with the fuse deal..if that is indeed a 20 amp.. Also, check under the seat closely, CLOSELY, for the power connection. It may have become separated from agressive cleaning or some other form of disconnect ( ie,, stuffing something under it ) You may also try bypassing the switch and have someone with some technical experience bypass everthing right to the power seat itself. At least you will be able to touch your pedals. That is a bit of prioirity here.. Good Luck to you...

Q: Where is the battery on a 2003 Ford Thunderbird?
The battery on my 2003 Ford Thunderbird is dead. I'd like to use jumper cables, but I can't find the battery. I suspect it may be in the trunk (along with the manual), but I can't get the trunk open due to the dead battery. Any ideas?

A: The 2003 T-bird has the battery located in the passenger side of the trunk. To open the trunk with a dead battery, open the drivers door, flip the seat forward and you should find the trunk lock cylinder, it is hooked to the luggage lid latch via cable.

Q: digital speedometer not working in 1985 ford thunderbird?
I have a 1985 ford Thunderbird, and for some reason the digital speedometer has just stopped working , it still lights up and all the other instruments work. but the speed and miles just dont show up. please help me , i have already checked the fuses nothing wrong with them. what else could it be?

A: See if it's driven electrically by a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) which is mounted on your transmission. Try replacing the VSS sensor. http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/05/11/ec/0900823d800511ec/repairInfoPages.htm
