Q: Ford Tempo?
is $1000.00 a good price for a 1993 ford tempo. inspected last month, new tires and slight rust on the body
A: Not a bad price if the mileage is under 80,000.
Q: How do I add and check the transmission fluid on a 1993 Ford Tempo?
I have a 93' Ford Tempo that changes gear weird and takes time to change when first starting up. I just bought this car and it's been sitting for about two years. Checked fluid and it's reallly low, so about how many quarts will I need on average to get it running right? Thanks
A: If you don't see any on the transmission fluid dipstick (not the motor oil dipstick, but you knew that), you need at least two quarts, maybe more. Just spring for the gallon jug and you should be fine--pour it in a quart at a time and check the dipstick after you give each quart a while to settle in. Also, don't forget that when you check on the trans fluid level it should be with the engine warm. I don't have a tempo, but on most cars the tube that holds the dipstick is also the fill tube--use a funnel and pour it there.
Q: Would the front bumper from a '91 Ford Tempo fit onto a '94 Ford Tempo?
I recently wrecked my car, a '94 Ford Tempo and need a new front bumper. I called a local junk yard and they told me it would cost roughly $150. However, my sister's friend has a '91 Ford Tempo that she's planning on selling. I was thinking that if the bumper from that fit on mine, I could buy it from her, take some extra parts, then junk the rest. Does anyone know if the older bumper is compatible with the newer car?
A: they stopped making the tempo in 94, so yes it will fit. they made it form 1988–1994. See for yourself. Remember 10 points :-D
Q: Can someone ballpark a CV joint replacement for me please on a 1988 Ford Tempo?
I have a 1988 Ford Tempo; I recently replaced the water pump. Now the driver's side front CV joint as gone out.
My wheel pulsates in a popping motion to the left even when barely taking a curve.
Does anyone know a ballpark figure I'm looking at for replacing it? I also wouldn't mind knowing what, exactly, a CV joint is considered, or what system of the car it's in.
Thanks in advance!
A: The CV joint for that car is around $50 or $60. That's just the part. If you have any mechanical knowledge, it's not TOO hard to replace yourself. But if you have to pay a mechanic to do it, add another $200 or $300 to that. The system would be the drivetrain. It connects your transmission to your wheel and allows the wheel to turn and go up and down.
Q: how much pressure would it take to shut off gas in a 93 ford tempo?
I was hit on the left rear panel and the hit shut off the gas to my 93 ford tempo, can you tell me how fast a person would have to be going to activate the switch?
A: Fords are pretty ticky in a lot of ways that might be relevant.
If you have not changed out your fuel filter in the past six months, the hit might actually have just caused the fuel to stop flowing, which it CAN do if you've not changed out the filter ANY time you take a right-turn at speed.
Sorry you got hit, best wishes.
Q: can anyone tell me how to replace a waterpump for a 1994 ford tempo?
my water pump is making noise and someone told me that i can't drive the car anymore till i get hat fixed.. can some one give me step by step instructions on how to do that? do i have to pull the engine? 1994 ford tempo 4 cyl...... please help i have a disabled wife and can't afford to send it to the shop.......i am mechanically inclined.......i will be forever in your debt!!!!!!!
A: I answered this question a while back. The pump is mounted at the bottom right rear of the engine. It can be a tricky one to do but not impossible in a driveway. You will need to jack up the front of the car to access some of the bolts. Make sure you get a new "o"ring for the pump where it pushes up into the engine block. As suggested previously a quality manual may be handy for you. Good luck with it.
Q: where can i go online to get free info on car repair for a ford tempo GL?
i have a 1992 ford tempo GL , v-6 made in canada... its still over heating and i have replaced the thermostat, my wife said it made a pinging sound just before smoke came out of the tailpipe...
A: Sounds like you've cracked a head. Possible timing problem though. Is it getting hot because of lack of water? If it jumped time, it may overheat. Cam timing, not electrical. If so, it's running like crap. If it's running fine but just overheating, you may have a clogged radiator. Need more info on what's been done and behavior of the car. Good luck.
Q: Where do you refill the AC on a 1994 Ford Tempo?
Where do you refill the AC on a 1994 Ford Tempo?
A: As I recall, the low side port is on the accumulator bottle at the left rear of the engine compartment.

93 ford tempo, 4cy. The 2 bolts on the top are very hard to get off. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get them off easier?

pain in the butt , but its the easiest
Q: How to remove rev limiter on a 1993 ford tempo?
I'am building a race car but the rev limiter kicks in at 1/2 pedal. If limiter can't be removed what else can I do? This 93 tempo has a 2.3 four cylinder engine.
A: Why wouldn't you make an Tempo into a race car?...It's the perfect sleeper, and like it or not, I've seen quite a few made to race...
Did you change the Onboard Diagnostic System?...Because it should be OBD-I...
Q: Can a 1994 Chevy C-1500 W/T tow a 1985 Ford Tempo GLX 2 Dr Coupe with a U-Haul Tow Dolly?
I was just wondering if our 94 Chevy C-1500 W/T which has a 4.3 L Vortec V6 would haul a 85 Ford Tempo GLX 2 Dr. Coupe on a U-Haul Tow Dolly.
A: You can go on the U-haul web site and click on get a new rate quote for a tow dolly. This will guide you. According to the site if you have a class 3 hitch "Our records indicate this is a recommended towing setup; however, all towing is subject to inspection. We suggest you have your vehicle inspected free of charge at any U-Haul Moving Center prior to the date of your move. " I personally have used a tow dolly to tow an older 4 door mid sized 6 cyl car with a class one hitch on a 2 door Ford Mustang with a 5.0 motor. Not recommended by U-Haul, but I did it. I would say that you would have no problems with this set up either. A 4.3 liter has plenty of power to tow a Tempo on a dolly.
Q: My 91 ford tempo will start by only pressing the gas and only run if constantly pressing the gas. Problem?
to add to above. it is a rough start. I have to keep presssing the gas for it to turn over usually and when running, i hav e to keep pumping the gas pedal to keep it going. I have replaced the fuel filter as well as the neutral safety switch. Im no expert but Have come to the conclusion it could be the fuel pump. anyone help me out?
A: sounds like the fuel pressure regulator http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=484&ptset=A&searchfor=Fuel+Pressure+Regulator
Q: How do I change the ignition switch on a 92 ford tempo?
I finally got my harmonic balancer changed now the lights under the dash wont turn off, the wipers work by themselves, the radio works sometimes and so does the fan for the heater. The turn signals only work sometimes but when I try the left turn signal, the car loses all power. And last but certainly not least, I cant drive unless I hold the key on. It starts with no problem the key just doesnt catch.
A: Just remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds and then you will see the ignition switch and after you replace it make sure that the rod is in the new switch correctly....
Q: How to Replace a Speedometer Cable in a 1990 Ford Tempo?
My speedometer doesnt register how fast you're going, no movement from the needle at all, as well as the mileage counter doesnt add miles when i drive anywhere...Does anyone know how to help me or give me a possible diagram to go off of, dont want to pay a mechanic to let it sit in the shop for 4 hours for something that should only take no more than 1 and then get raped for money for no reason....
A: You are right probably should not take more than an hour. It will not be easy tho..may need to see a back doctor afterwards. At transmission there should be a spring clip that holds cable to transmission..remove that, then pull up on cable. Cable at speedometer head, it is either a screw on type of a pinch style retainer. Best advise is hit the library and look in a Motors Manual or Michille (spelling) Manual and photo copy what you need.
Q: What horsepower and torque does a 1987 Ford Tempo GL Coupe have with the 2.3L Fuel Injected engine?
Don't tell me the car sucked. I already know that. I used to have one. I'm just curious as to how gutless it was compared to today's 4 cylinder cars.
A: I think it was rated at 86 horsepower and 124 ft/lbs of torque.
